Summer Fun

Summer in the Rila and Pirin mountains is a quiet paradise for walkers and bikers alike with well marked routes, a throw back to the communist era when walking in the mountains for exercise was actively encouraged.

Scenes shift from Swiss like country meadows, to Canadian type pine forests, to the English Lake District, crags and watercourses, all with the advantage of having a Mediterranean climate for the sun but the cooling effect of the mountain air.

Horse riding is also becoming popular because of the huge expanse of hacking terrain.
